What is Church Planter Assessment?
In Romans 12:3 Paul advocates: “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”
Assessment for church planters is a specific and practical outflow of that passage. The heart of assessment is helping church planting candidates discover God’s calling and giftedness as it relates to church planting.
Assessment through AGCPN encompasses four days of processing leadership inventories, holding conversations, participating in exercises, and evaluations for a planter and spouse, if married. Our program was developed by Dr. J. Allen Thompson, President of the International Church Planting Center.
Ed Stetzer discovered an observable attendance increase among the assessed church planters. At each year, the church planters who were assessed led churches that are approximately 20 percent larger than those who were not assessed (averaged over a four year period).
